Maybe having meetings when possible to meet the professors and other
students in group discussions about class subjects, class
certifications and subjects about law school or speakers who work in
law firms or courts.

I can't think of anything. Although I'm new, I am impressed with what
the program offers. It appears as though everything was thought
through.

when I lived in Redondo beach and I looked at the paralegal program
offered at El Camino College. That program seemed very interesting and
is accredited by the American Bar Association. I was never able to
start the program because I moved to the Valley but I wonder if having
some accreditation would improve the program or somehow add (more)
credibility to the paralegal certificate.

Would like more choices for classes during the summer/winter sessions.
Maybe a way to deal with the prof of your class on a one-on-one basis
(if that's needed). Can't imagine how, but you asked!!!

I would like to see a paralegal program that teams up with top gun
firms (probably only going to happen on their pro bono projects)
whereby we students get to do legwork on real cases under real world
time constraints. Again, this could force the profs to completely
change gears and enter into an extremely labor-intensive mode while
getting such a project off the ground. However I believe that the right
person/people from the school talking to the right person/people from
the top gun firms can demonstrate what a win/win/win
(firm/school/student) situation this could turn out to be. Obviously
there will be a "learning curve" to overcome for the firms and school
yet I clearly see that the prof who makes this project his baby will
surely go down in history and change the course of not only law but our
entire global economy and education system as well. While some things
initially come across as difficult remember that nothing is impossible.
With a little dedication and a few good hearts in the right place this
project can easily become the envy of educational and legal movers and
shakers. It could start with pro bono projects geared toward wildlife
management, environmental issues, companion animal legislature
(research Orly Degani of Sedgwick Detert Moran & Arnold just for
starters - written up in Daily Journal's article entitled Top 20 Under
40 [last year, if memory serves] and in Super Lawyers this year) and
the like. I see this project soaring to such heights of popularity and
esteem whereby the top gun firms actually have to pay the school money
just for an opportunity to be involved! "The times they are a
changin'." Bob Dylan.

Nothing much, but like I said I would like to see teachers to actually
show the students where they have committed a mistake and to help them
understand why it is a mistake.

For me the program is perfect for basically anybody who is looking into
another option to get ahead with your education and does not have the
time to go to class.

More feedback and detail when our papers are graded... if your going to
give someone a 75 on a test its helpful to the student to know why they
are getting this grade. Also helpful to receive reminder emails about
meet and confer.

Again, I'm brand new. I don't see anything yet with the program. I am
not happy with Admissions and dealing with the college itself, having
made several trips there and called multiple times - they are not very
helpful.

I would like to see the quiz/tests go back to the original fill in the
bubble multiple choice instead of the drop down menu multiple choice
because the old system gave you the answers that were wrong along with
the proper answer and explanation right after you took the test,
instead of a couple of days later. I feel that immediate responses to
things help you learn better.

I know ABA approval is not necessary, but it nevertheless conveys an
public impression that the program is "legit". It always helps to state
that one graduated from an ABA approved program.

Add more classes that can be used in the real world. Im in the Health
Care field so I would like to see maybe one or two classes tailored to
this field.

What I would like to see is a way to bring the social aspect into the
on line classes. The Monday phone meeting does not work for me since I
am working at that time. What I would like to see is like a weekly
"coffee" hour or two so people that are local can get together with
everyone, student and instructors. Nothing formal, not a class just a
get together. Able to talk about whatever, network and build
friendships in the paralegal community.
I would also like to see a way to get the students into the paralegal
community as soon as possibe. Seminars or whatever. Would allow us to
network and get an idea of what we are really getting into. Would also
let us feel apart of the community.

(1) I would be thrilled if the Associate in Arts Degree – Legal
Assisting/Paralegal was obtainable entirely on-line, (2) more 15 week
schedules were offered and (3) the program was ABA certified.

too much work, many repititive assignments from prior classes.

I am only three classes into the program, so don't have suggestions for
improving...other than a better reponse to questions posted on the site
and actually indicating on the test results what was wrong with the
answer.
|
|

more teacher interaction- the meet and confer seems to be informal and
non- formatted . I suggest a more formal formatted structure as what
will be discussed. also more video material from instructor.
|
|

Due dates, at least give three days of gap between other courses so that they won't be in the way of the other assignments.

Online format wise... more feedback on the assigments.

Well, this doesnt have any thing to do with the paralegal itself. But
for LAMC to not charge online students that only study by distance
learning not to pay a student represenation fee when one can't
paticipate.

More hands on mentoring for each class with a relevant law firm. Want
to see the actual paper flow. Want to walk along with the paper work
needed for the various fillings. Thats how I beleive I can better
absorb and learn the relevant subject matter.

Change?
Facilitate chat between students, on legal or other issues. I have had
questions come up of a broad nature, but there is no community to
discuss it with.

Maybe a little more communication between professors and students. I
enjoy video and audio lectures as well and would like to see more use
of those in the future.

More actual experience (online simulated, of course). I look at
paralegal ads on Craigs List and have no clue what they are asking for
in the job description. But again, I have only taken 5 courses so far.
But it might be a good idea to look at Craigs List and teachwhat is
being asked for by employers.

I would like to be able to finish the program in less time but I don't
know that it is possible to do that and still learn as much. (If I took
more courses at a time I don't know that I could dedicate as much to
each course as I should).

I would like one professor OUT of the program, completely, inspite of
the difficulty in finding a replacement. There is no room for a self
righteous, non-caring, non-dedicated, attorney to be a professor to
students in this field, at this college. I would like to see a class
added focusing in on strictly A-Z of working a case, one case, with all
its legal preparation and follow up with accurate dates being the
focus. Actually, this case could be the weekly assignments, mid term,
(to take the case, a copy of it, and read it over completely, looking
to see if the proper forms were used, dated properly, and grading for
the mid term) then the final being the same procedure. A class strictly
involving one case, its calendaring, the works.
