Overall, what did you enjoy most, enjoy least? and what would you do differently for Flexday 2007?
1. Do differently: We need to work on our timing and sticking to an agenda. We did not have a "report" on our accreditation. We had the raffle. That took a lot of time. A good idea but could have been much quicker. It seemed to drag after the first 10 minutes.
2. Not enough time to address accreditaiton. New members that hadn't read response to standard. Suggested change for to next flex day: Provide time for department meetings. This is extremely important.
3. I enjoyed the SLOs workshop. I would spend more time and make it mandatory so that there is more participation.
4. I enjoyed the speech from the college President. I think it is better to invite professoinal speakers to conduct workshops.
5. I was a "presenter " in the afternoon, so did not participate in the Accreditation sessions, so I can't rate them. I would schedule the adjunct presentation for a longer period of time. We weren't able to get to the meat of our presentation.
6. I enjoyed hearing the new president speak, lunch was great and the slo session was worth the time.
7. It was all good. No recommendations
8. The Fexday 2006 was very good and informative. For Flexday 2007, I'll bring my own lunch:)
9. Perhaps have more 10 minute breaks. It would be a good idea for some programs to inform everyone of their services. Also, hours that faculty are available for students for the Fall semester.
10. The raffle was a waste of time.
11. Seeing my friends.
12. Having to sign in repeatedly. It felt more like middle school detention than a professional activity.
13. I think this was the least producrive, enjoyable flex day I have attended. I wanted more variety in presentations such as web designing. Also it is a time for departments to get together for their first meeting to take care of business.
14. Have the committee get input from faculty rather then forcing us to sit through such useless crap! The check in-check out was childish and patranizing. And the food was cheap. Does the group that actually brings in the money deserve better?
15. The adjunct metting was not used efficiently. We spent an hour to eat, 30 min of repeated information and 15 min raffle. I was not sure about the goal of the meeting at the end.
16. Enjoy most: nothing Enjoy least: did not keep to the time schedule at all!!!! You must have a 15 minute break for every 4 hours of work (state of CA law). Also, in our break out session, we were in the same room as another discipline. It was nearly impossible to hear our own group. We should have had our own room. It was very noisy and confusing. Differently: Separate rooms for each discipline. More break out sessions. Less boring speaches. Review the speaker BEFORE the meeting day to see if it is a good presentation. The only good thing I liked was the speach from the new president. Need more topics. Only had one: SLO's. I only came because I had to get in so many hours of flex time as an adjunct teacher. Nothing for adjuncts during the day. I could not come to the evening meeting for adjuncts because I was teaching at another college. Should have more than one time scheduled for adjuncts. Hard enough as it is as an adjunct. Only had one option to come to.
17. Singing "we are family" was pushing it a bit. I would love to see how other faculty members do group projects in their classes. Or other New tips to share about teaching in general. Adjuncts were asking for online education too.
18. I enjoyed the presentations and the infromation that was presented to us by the adjunct faculty. The food was delicious and I enjoyed conversing with my colleagues.
